Toy Fair 2014: New Battle Beasts Minimates

Some previously-unseen Beasts (last seen at SDCC 2013) have been revealed in the 16bit.com Battle Beasts Toy Fair coverage!  Diamond Select Toys revealed the latest batch:  Giraffe and Hammerhead Shark, Cow and Bear, Cobra and Bat, plus Anubis and Thrush.

Toy Fair 2013: LEGO Legends of Chima Gallery

I'm guessing this is going to get the most traffic! LEGO Legends of Chima is already in stores, but the gallery showcases larger buildable action figures in addition to dozens of new minifigure-scaled kits of varying price points.
The main takeaway from here? Apes. And the bigger Chima guys remind me of Xevoz, so I might have to grab a couple of those.  Click here to view over 90 images of these new toys at 16bit.com.

Toy Fair 2013 Beast Round-Up

As we've said in the past, there's an update: and that's that there is no update.

As far as I could tell, Beast Saga was not on display in any form at New York Toy Fair.  Hasbro didn't show it and nobody else seems to be importing it.

Diamond Select Toys' Battle Beasts line was nowhere to be seen inside Diamond's booth.  I was told the line was not dead... just that there was nothing to show right now.

Naturally there was no Armorvor presence, and I didn't see any sign of Rise of the Beasts or other similar toys

There was an awful lot of Legends of Chima in standard LEGO minifigure scale plus larger, Bionicle-sized "constraction" kits.  We'll be posting a gallery of a few dozen images over the next day or two.  I just got home from New York as I type this and need to finish things up and go to bed after being up for almost a solid day.

Battle Beasts Minimates Not Quite Dead!

Hey everybody! I had a brief chat with Diamond Select today and they told me that the Minimates Battle Beasts line is NOT dead yet! No new products were shown, but apparently the concept still has some life in it. More as I can find it!

For the curious, no promotional Minimates were distributed at Toy Fair 2011. And not just Battle Beasts-- none at all were handed out this year, not even blank figures.

Toy Fair 2010: The Gator Returns

If you were one of the many lucky people to walk through Diamond Select Toys' quarters in New York in February 2010, you got handed a little plastic bagged figure which appears very similar to the "Gator Guard" shown at Comic-Con 2009. This time, his armor is silver rather than gold and unlike that first figure, you can actually have this one. (Well, not this one-- we borrowed the bagged image from our pals at Altered States Magazine.)

Reading "Battle Beasts: The Roar Rages On" on the bag, there's no sign of any "Takara" or "Hasbro" copyrights, which, we assume, means Diamond now owns the property. From all the reports out of New York, it seems there's no actual plan to release these at retail, but bagged sample figures like this one are making it out on eBay and elsewhere for quite a premium, with the first two reaching $100. The prices have since come down a little, but wait for our full review before shelling our your cash on this one.

It's worth noting the figure has no name and no Fire, Wood, Water, or Suburst Warrior rub sign stickers like the originals.
