I say that a lot about the clear guys. The Bat Beast Saga
toy was redecorated and blind-packed, and odds are you didn't buy one.
I mean, I started taking pictures of this toy in September of 2012, and
just finished shooting it a couple of weeks ago for this review
finally. I need to build a better Beast Saga display.

[ READ THE FULL REVIEW ]

Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4795811810218872642.post-13357900801538384542019-11-14T04:30:00.000-08:002019-11-14T04:30:05.871-08:00Review: Onell Design Glyos Armorvor Kugarrec Onell Design

it's good. Our new pal evokes a classic figure from the Laser Beasts
range known in English as "Scope Cougar," named after the game early
20-something toy collectors do at Target at toy runs. And now that I
have alienated all of you, I can just gush about this one.
surprise! In June 2019 I got a message from Jon "Little Rubber Guys"
Karis with glow in the dark blue and green versions of his Rhinoceros
and Scorpion figures. No names, no dates, just a surprise - and of
course, I immediately had to photograph them for a review in the future.
I shot Rhino and Scorpion - Blue and Green Glow individually, and it turns out they'd be a four-pack. Ah well.
dropped three new heads on us all at once - which is kind of stunning,
given the Armorvor has only been a Wolf and Neo-Granthan for the last 8
years. Due to Matt Doughty's hesitance to waste anything, this figure
is particularly curious - the dragon head is painted grey plastic, and
the wings are molded in red plastic. What other parts are hiding out
there for future release?

Why even phrase it as a question? Dropping in about 28 hours, Onell Design posted a preview of its Savage Cybernetics. Three new Armorvor heads are visible, one of which is a clear nod to the holiest of molies, Laser Beasts Skull Grotess. Previous Armorvor figures have been great, and we've had Wolf, Armored Wolf, and dinosaur-like Neo Granthan heads so far.
Presumably at least three figures are coming Sunday at 9:30 PM Eastern, so mark your calendars.
The Imaginext line has been a pretty good mix of toys aimed at younger boys. You've got big licenses like Spongebob Squarepants and Batman
alongside home-grown lines of pirates, planes, monsters, castles, and
interestingly no sign of He-Man. Part of a recent Pirates range, the Shark Minisub
is really neither. You get an orca figure and some sort of
barrel-based jetski with a periscope. It sold for about $7 and I
recently realized I had missed it, and due to the Battle Beasts
nature of the figure I had to run out and find one. Thankfully Kohl's
rarely marks things down in a timely fashion, so it was reasonably easy
to find one. The bulk of the rest of the line are humanoid sharks, with
a mix of sea life and strange mechanical things. There's a Shark Mech
Suit, which I don't need per se but I'm not going to skip it if I
see one in a store again. The line also has numerous human pirates,
including a Captain Hook-esque scallywag and Davey Jones (sadly not Davy
Jones), and several others. I gravitate toward the weird humanoid
animals.
I don't know how I'm going to get mine yet since I can't make it to NYCC, but Diamond Select Toys announced Battle Beasts Desmodius - a black bat, based on the former Toys R Us exclusive mold. It's a mere $6 if you get yours at New York Comic Con in October, and you probably should get one for me too. (Or somebody.)
It's nice to see something new for this line! The last new release was a 2-pack in 2016.
Hasbro put one out in Transformers as "Fengul," a Titan Master companion to Grotusque. It's the second Battle Beasts
head companion figure we've seen so far, and this was as good of a time
as any to look at its inspiration from thousands of years ago, back in
the 1980s.
on eBay a few years ago - shortly thereafter, I was at an industry
party filled with dishes of them for free, like after-dinner mints.
Oops. The line was a few years in the making with a decent amount of
fanfare - there was even a comic series which you had to order a bunch
of to get this figure as a premium. (Selling a lot of #1 matters.) It
was cheaper to buy the toy on eBay than to pony up for the comics, so
it wasn't a total loss. This figure is a redeco of the normal Vorin
(there are two sculpts of the ram) complete with shield and sword.
a short-lived line that I assume only got another release to keep the
trademark in Diamond's hands and out of Hasbro's. I was genuinely
shocked to see these at Toys R Us, so I bought them on sight - as luck
would have it, they were also on clearance. Upon further investigation
we've sold them at where I work for quite some time but I had no idea.
I assume that's not a good sign when someone who desperately wants to
buy anything with "Battle Beasts" on the box has no idea that they
exist, and since they were never on the front of the pegs at Toys R Us
until May of 2017 I had no idea they were a thing I could buy. They're
good - a whole second series
was shown At Comic-Con in 2013 but didn't make it out. That's part of
what made this even more surprising, but good on Diamond Select Toys for
having the thought of getting something out of its design investment
and releasing them anyway. Even if it was ultimately to what was
clearly a dud of a reception from fans and
would-have-liked-to-have-supported-it fans.
like regular Aljaylo, minus paint and opacity. The weapons and plastic

1980s and 1990s were packed with toys remembered fondly by today's
adults thanks to a large amount of marketing and a ton of print. Things
like Bunikis and Beast Saga are probably going to be
remembered by a few Japanese kids and American toy bloggers - nobody
else seems to have much memory of this line already. I was hoping for a
huge line that eclipsed the original Battle Beasts. While we got a few awesome figures, it fizzled out quickly - but hey, we got a rabbit!
I bought the entire figure line - blind boxes and all - because man, was I excited about Battle Beasts.
Diamond Select's new line petered out after a wave, the Armorvor has
had only one beast head added since its introduction, and Beast Saga
died in about a year. It didn't get ported to the USA, and it didn't
really achieve much of an impact - it's doomed to obscurity, so it's
time to write about this bull.
was another no-brainer. The figure shows that whole quasi futuristic
vibe you've come to love from Takara and Hasbro, with big armor and not
much in the way of pants. This unique style was largely cribbed in Beast Saga, and it's not too dissimilar from Masters of the Universe.
The outfit is unique in that it doesn't feel slavish to the
creature's habitat, and also shows off some of the more distinctive
features of the anatomy.[ READ THE FULL REVIEW ]Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4795811810218872642.post-42980909442623406192015-10-05T00:14:00.000-07:002015-10-05T00:14:00.184-07:00Review: Hasbro Battle Beasts Tanglin Pangolin
came out as part of an eight-pack. In the USA, series 3 was sold only
in boxes of eight while the other series were two-packs or packaged
with vehicles. This is one I didn't have as a kid and tracked down a
few years ago. I didn't even really know what a pangolin was, but I dug
armadillos and penguins and other creatures so why the heck not? These
are tree-dwelling insect-eating armored mammals, and they're endangered
which means kids of the 1980s probably were super into them. (I was a
manatee fanatic myself.)
really good too - since most are new colorways of a pretty good mold,
and I've been trying to cut back on armies, I only get these very
rarely... this Boba Fett-inspired figure came out in a batch resembling
Skeletor and other familiar faces. How could I refuse?
The Neo Granthan Pyrotellica
is an orange release that looks like it probably owes a little bit -
OK, a lot - to Micronauts. The previous Armorvor toys have rarely been
clear, and those that have only had a tiny bit of paint. This is the
first one to have painted faces on clear plastic, making it unique for a
variety of reasons beyond merely being a new color with a newish head
sculpt. Seemingly fans didn't jump on this one, because it didn't sell
out quickly and actually stuck around along with his brothers beyond the
point that the orders actually began to show up. It's still available
as of my writing this, which is odd for a generally popular mold.
